Karyotype Analysis in HRT-18, HCT-48, HT-29 Cell Line


Abstract
The G-banding technique was employed to study patterns of chromosomal variations in human colorectal cancer cell lines: HRT-18, HCT-48, HT-29. The results obtained are as follows:
1. The modal chromosome number of HRT-18 cell line is 46 occuring at 63%, and polyploidy, at 7%, The composition of sex chromosomes is XY. One marker chromosome was often to these cells : 16p+.
2. The modal chromosome number of HCT-48 is 46 occuring at 67%, and polyploidy, at 16%, The composition of sex chromosomes is XY. Three marker chromosomes were common to these cells: 7q+ , t(13q:14q), t(13q:17q). Additional marker, M4 is specific to polyploidy.
3. The modal chromosome number of HT-29 cell line is 70 occuring at 35%. The co position of sex chromosomes is XY. Eleven marker chromosomes were common to these cells: t (13q ;13q), 10q+, 10p+, and 7 others of unknown origin. Double minutes was found a s all portion of cells. Normal chromosome 13 was absent.
